Shekhawat stood on his own after 6 years - A journey of a thousand miles helped him take his first steps
Shekhawat, the 6-year-old son of Muhammad Hamnajur and Sharmin Rahman, resides in a small town in Bangladesh. He recently achieved a significant milestone in his life by standing on his own for the very first time. Shekhawat was born with hydrocephalus (water on the brain) and underwent a successful brain surgery shortly after birth. However, he still had club foot and would never be able to walk until another surgery was done. Unfortunately, the required surgery to fulfill this dream was not available in Bangladesh.
Despite these obstacles, his determined parents were resolute in their aspiration to see their son walk independently. Shekhawat's parents decided to take matters into their own hands. They borrowed funds and arranged for Shekhawat's treatment through the medical tourism services offered by Indian Health Centers.
Muhammad Rahman speaks of how timely intervention from Indian Health Centers enabled their son to stand for the first time.
"Indian Health Centers was helpful at every step of our journey - from accommodation in a Bengali speaking area and help with translators at the hospital. Our son was examined by the best orthopedic surgeons, Dr. Chashanal Rathod and Dr. Chetan Wankhede after which he was operated. The surgery was a success and my son could stand on his own for the very first time. We are very happy with the results and are eagerly looking forward to send Shekawat to school once he recovers fully."
