Typically, there are three types of robotic systems based on the degree of control the surgeon has over the robot:^1,2

2021 show that patients who had undergone robotic knee replacement surgeries reported significantly higher satisfaction in terms of pain, movement, alignment and stability and balance as compared to those undergoing traditional arthroplasty.³ Another study published in the Journal of Orthopedics (2022) demonstrated significantly higher patient satisfaction, reduced time taken for independent movement, and improved joint perception during daily activities after a robotic-assisted TKA. Interestingly, most of these patients responded that if given a choice they would prefer to opt for robotic surgery if they would undergo surgery again.
